Lori Mairs' steel and paper scultpures, from the Dysfunctional Chairs, were reconfigured and returned to the forest that inspired the work. Four individual pieces were placed in proximity to locations in the park where evidence of past human occupation can be found.
Although Woodhaven is currently a Nature Conservancy, hidden among this bounty of nature are settlers' middens, abandoned barbed wire fences broken and stretched across the landscape, and fallen structures that were, at one time, full of purpose and use. The placement of the sculptures calls the viewer to observe and consider the nature of passage, preservation and dwelling.
